Self-evaluation checklist

Rate your confidence from 1 to 5 on 25 statements, five for each module, and on five about your organisation.

1 not confident at all, 5 I could teach others. If a module average is below 3/5, re-study that module.

Module 1: Fundamentals of Wearable Technology

  1. C1.1: I can classify the main families of wearable technology and distinguish sensors by what they physically measure.
  2. C1.2: I can explain the data journey from athlete → sensor → platform → coaching decision.
  3. C1.3: I can evaluate a device using validity, reliability and ecological validity.
  4. C1.4: I can apply a multi-criteria selection matrix to a real device-choice scenario.
  5. C1.5: I can recognise baseline ethical and GDPR obligations before introducing a wearable.

Module 2: Real-Time Data Tracking

  1. C2.1: I can distinguish internal from external load and pick appropriate metrics for my sport.
  2. C2.2: I can compute sRPE, TRIMP and ACWR from raw session data.
  3. C2.3: I can interpret the five dashboard visualisation families.
  4. C2.4: I can diagnose common data-quality issues and apply basic filtering rules.
  5. C2.5: I can decide what to share with athletes in real time and what to defer.

Module 3: Performance Optimization

  1. C3.1: I can build an individualised baseline (mean + SD) and define personalised reference ranges.
  2. C3.2: I can integrate wearable data into micro-, meso- and macrocycle periodisation.
  3. C3.3: I can interpret HRV, sleep, wellness and CMJ and synthesise a recovery judgment.
  4. C3.4: I can design a wearable-informed tapering plan for a competition peak.
  5. C3.5: I can weigh the marginal value of a new metric against measurement burden.

Module 4: Injury Prevention

  1. C4.1: I can identify modifiable injury risk factors detectable via wearable data.
  2. C4.2: I can compute ACWR, monotony and strain and apply defensible thresholds while acknowledging debate.
  3. C4.3: I can detect biomechanical asymmetries and triage (document/refer) appropriately.
  4. C4.4: I can construct an early-warning system with pre-decided escalation actions.
  5. C4.5: I can manage return-to-play using wearable confirmation alongside clinical judgment.

Average:(0 / 5 answered)

Module 5: Integration into Coaching Practice

  1. C5.1: I can design a 90-day integration plan using the PDCA cycle.
  2. C5.2: I can develop a written data-governance policy (consent, access, retention, sharing, breach).
  3. C5.3: I can communicate wearable data to athletes and parents with supportive framing.
  4. C5.4: I can manage change among staff who resist data-driven practice.
  5. C5.5: I can choose and operationalise the right delivery pathway for my organisation.

Organisational readiness

  1. O1: We have a written informed-consent process in place before any device is deployed.
  2. O2: We have a documented data-governance policy (access, retention, sharing, breach).
  3. O3: Access permissions are explicitly defined and audited.
  4. O4: Retention periods are defined and communicated.
  5. O5: A RACI (or equivalent) clarifies who owns each data domain.
